Leadership / Management Tip
Go - Went - Gone

"Went" is the past tense of the verb "go". "Gone" is the past participle of the verb "go". Here are some simple examples:

  • I go to work every day.
  • I went to work yesterday.
  • I have gone to work every day since New Year's Day.

Again, remember that the past participle of "go" is "gone" and not "went"! "Went" is the past tense of the verb "go". Please don't say "I should have went." It is embarrassing for a leader to make such a mistake. Unfortunately, too many leaders make this mistake. The correct form is "I should have gone."
