Leadership / Management Tip
Quote by Marie Curie

"Nothing in life is to be feared; it is only to be understood."

— Marie Curie (1867 - 1934)

This quote from Madam Curie is still relevant today more than one hundred years after she said it. It reminds us that we need to remain open-eyed and observant, curious and inquisitive, open-minded, and lifelong learners, always in pursuit of a complete and comprehensive understanding of the world around us. An accurate understanding of the world around us will enable us to effect change in a positive way to bring about improvements.

This should be the daily goal of every leader, not just to advance the mission and strategic priorities of one's organization, but also to impact the world in a positive way.

Marie Curie was the first women to win a Nobel Prize, the only woman to win the Nobel Prize twice, and the only person to win the Nobel Prize in two different scientific disciplines (first in Physics and a few years later in Chemistry). The full quote from Madame Curie is the following:

"Nothing in life is to be feared; it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less."
