Expect change.
Accept the fact that change is all around you, and that change – good, neutral, or bad – will take place regardless of you playing any role in it. Come to the realization that nothing is permanent; the status quo will change; no real or perceived entitlement will last forever; and there is no guarantee that your sector, job, title, function, process, etc. will be not disrupted by a new way of doing things.
The only control you can exercise over change is to expect it, anticipate it, work proactively to be ready for it, and work strategically to adapt to it. By being proactive, early adopters of change can even take advantage of the new way to position themselves for personal and professional growth.
If you really want to be successful, innovate, and be the one who initiates and leads the change.
