Leadership / Management Tip
Greet and acknowledge as many individuals as you can.

When entering a room (or a virtual room), where a meeting or event is about the begin, make an effort to greet as many people as possible. If it is a small group, greet everyone. If it is a large group, do your best to greet as many individuals as possible. If possible and appropriate for the occasion, shake everyone's hand. The point is to acknowledge everyone, to show that you care to say hello to each and every person. This may seem simple, but an incredibly effective way of showing respect to people, and demonstrating that each individual matters. Leaders who do this genuinely endear themselves to others.

Of course, be judicious and appropriate for the occasion. If you are late to an event or meeting, don't be disruptive. Quietly find a seat/spot and seamlessly integrate yourself in the activities. If you are attending a funeral or somber occasion, be as discrete and respectful as possible, and stay as quiet as possible (unless of course you have a prescribed role in the event).

Upon completion of the event/meeting, do the same. Acknowledge and thank everyone before leaving or before they leave.
