Don't assume that others will greet you first or, worse, expect that others should greet you first. They may be shy, introvert, rude, clueless, socially awkward, or distracted. In rare cases, they may be antagonistic or may even dislike you. Your constant and ongoing initiative to greet others signifies a desire for openness, collaboration, and partnership. Effective leaders use all opportunities and occasions to extend a hand of partnership to others.
