It is better to be at the table than to be on the menu.
Work hard to be at the table to contribute to the conversation, even if you do not completely agree with the proposed idea, initiative, or project. Being at the table will allow you to voice your opinion and influence the decision-making process. This is a much better scenario than to be completely excluded from the conversation, and ultimately be forced to react to a bad or unexpected decision. But your engagement with the conversation should always be with the best intentions in mind. You should not participate in a process with the goal of sabotaging it. Always keep an open mind. The possibilities for creativity and synergy may surprise you.
