Authenticity is among the most important traits for any human being, and especially for a leader. An authentic leader demonstrates transparency, clarity, purpose, openness, thoughtfulness, trustworthiness, and vulnerability all at the same time, setting an example that one is never all-knowing, and that a methodical, thoughtful, intentional, transparent, collaborative, and consultative approach will generally help a group of individuals arrive at the right answer. People are naturally drawn to authentic individuals and leaders, feel a connection with them through a common purpose, believe in their message, and follow their example. Leaders with big personalities, charm, and charisma naturally attract a lot of attention, but they can never be as effective as authentic leaders.
