Don't speak poorly of your predecessor and/or your successor.
Don't openly criticize your predecessor and/or your successor. Ineffective leaders attempt to falsely elevate their self-importance and self-value by speaking poorly of their predecessor and/or of their successor. Don't do this, no matter how tempting it may be. It gets nothing accomplished and it takes your attention and focus away from the important work you must do to build a strong and high-functioning team to advance the mission and strategic priorities of your organization.
