Make it a routine to watch speeches of great leaders. Carefully observe the speaker's posture, body and head movements, hand gestures, facial expressions, and eye contact with the audience. Hear for tone, inflection, and volume of voice. Note changes in cadence (such as rhythm and speed of speech) as well as short and long pauses. See how great speakers interact with and become one with their audience. Pay particular attention to speaker reaction to unexpected events, such as technology malfunction or positive/negative interruption by the audience. There is so much to learn from great leaders, their speeches, and their command of the moment. Observe, learn, and adopt strategies that you can use in your own speeches.
